Fun Adventures

So these last couple of weeks have been really good!  First, my best friend, T, came and stayed with me for the weekend.  We had so much fun!  We shopped and ate great food and we hung out and caught up. I introduced her to Criminal Minds.  Which is kinda funny because everytime I had previously watched the show, I had thought of my friend T because it is about FBI agents who work in the BAU and T wants to be in the FBI.  Anyway, We spent the better part of the weekend relaxing, talking, and watching Criminal Minds.  I'm pretty sure she is officially hooked!

Then on Sunday I hosted a bridal shower for another friend of mine.  It was just a backyard tea but it turned out really good!  We had a blast!  There was food and friends and games with prizes.  I hope the bride had as much fun as I did planning it.  One other great thing about the party was I got to meet other friends of the bride.  I always enjoy meeting new people.

I spent the week working on my dissertation.  I'm excited that I am actually starting to make progress.  Hopefully this coming week will hold as much progress and forward movement in the process.

This last weekend was beautiful in all its simplness.  Chris came home.  That in itself was great!  We spent Thursday night at home.  It had been a long day for both of us and by the time Chris got in from the airport we were both exhausted.  Then on Friday night we went to a fellowship with the couples in our Sunday School.  It was really fun!  It was great to get to talk to everyone and get to know them and their families a little bit better.  Honestly, Chris and I had planned to only stay for an hour.  But we ended up having so much fun we stayed the entire time.  I am definately looking forward to the next time we all get together!

Saturday morning Chris and I drove up to Tuscumbia to visit his grandparents.  I absolutely love his Maw Maw and Paw Paw.  In fact, I consider them my Maw Maw and Paw Paw too.  Anyway, I had never been to their house so it was a fun trip.  We brought our girls and they got to play with their Great Maw Maw and Great Paw Paw.  I had so much fun on this trip!  I have been sitting here trying to think of what my favorite part was and I just can't seem to narrow it down.

We went and toured the Hellen Keller home, Ivy Green.  It was so cool to get to see the actual historical landmark.  I studied ASL in high school and Hellen Keller was always a big name we studied and learned from.  Still to this day I admire her perseverance and drive.  I loved going through the house and seeing where it all really happened.  I even got to touch and pump the acutal water pump where Hellen figured out water and the name for it.  It was just too cool!  That night we went to the production of the Miracle Worker.  The cast did a great job!  It was outdoors and it was fun to see the story come to life!

After touring Ivy Green, we spent the rest of the day touring around other places from the Maw Maw and Paw Paw's past.  It was so much fun to see the areas where they were born and where Chris's mom grew up.  We also spent time in their garden.  I helped pick blue berries!  They were so good!  Then Chris showed me what Maw Maw and Paw Paw kept in their garage!  Oh my gosh!  We had so much fun!  We drove around town with the top down and it was great! Chris even wore this cute hat that Paw Paw said he had to put on.  Such great memories were made this last weekend!

For Father's Day we went out to Thorptown and went to church where Maw Maw and Paw Paw used to go when their girls were growning up.  It was so neat to meet Chris's mom's friends from when she was a child.  We drove around the area and saw everything from original homes to old stores to chicken farms.  It was definately a nice relaxing weekend in the country.  We all had fun... even the girls!

P and K waiting in the window for us to come home!

Sunday afternoon we came home.  We did laundry and picked up the house a bit.  We also played in the kitchen and invented a drink that is like a frozen hot chocolate.  It was really good!  We also watched the Adam Sandler movie, "Just Go With It".  Chris wanted to watch it just for the hot chicks.  I thought it would be funny.  We were both happy.  It was really nice to hang out this weekend.  We even had fun driving to and from Tuscumbia.  It gave us a chance to talk and dream about everything we want in the future.  Now we are both back to work.  But I know I for one feel rejuvinated and happy.  It's always great getting to spend time with family and friends.

Speaking of family and friends this weekend my other best friend who is like my sister and her sweet boy are coming to visit.  It should be awesome!  I am sure I will have lots to share after all the adventures we have planned!
